At Expeditional we provide Routemaster bus driving experiences and Bendy Bus driving experiences. This is a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to drive a world famous, iconic London Bus and the infamous Bendy Bus, often thought of as the nemesis of the Routemaster.
We operate this as an exclusive one to one experience, run at selected dates throughout the year on a private circuit where you can negotiate these giant vehicles in safety around typical road junctions and scenarios. The perfect gift voucher or a treat for yourself. Spaces are limited so buy your voucher today.
Our customers travel from all over the UK and the world to take part in our experiences. People drive from Manchester and as far as Edinburgh, overseas travellers have come from Canada and even Australia solely to drive our Routemaster buses.
Routemaster Bus Driving Experience
Buy this experience for yourself or as the perfect gift voucher. Simply buy a voucher below which can be used to book onto any available date listed at the bottom of this page.
All experiences include a one to one personal tuition. There is complimentary tea and coffee for all. You start with a short briefing about the techniques and practicality of the bus, followed by the drive which includes a variety of driving scenarios, from negotiating junctions and corners, stopping at a bus stop and a slalom section! All participants also receive a certificate at the end and have the option for an in cab DVD.
The buses themselves are surprising easy to control. They are fully automatic and have power steering, so all you need to do is focus on navigation and control of these magnificent vehicles. Please bear in mind that the Routemaster design requires the driver to be able to climb up into the drivers cab.
Old versus New
The age old question, which is best? The Routemaster buses served London for over 50 years, with their open platform design. On the other hand the bendy bus served for less than 7 years! The debate rolls on as to which was best for London. Now you can decide for yourself, take the test and drive both with our battle of the buses, old versus new.

Difference between a Routemaster and Modern Buses
The Routemaster is the iconic London bus in service between 1958 to 2005. The Routemaster has the half cab design with the engine mounted at the front, next to the driver and the turning wheels beneath the driving position. The entrance is at the back with an open platform. In comparison modern buses have the engine mounted at the rear. The entrance is at the front of the bus with the turning wheels positioned behind the driving position. All these variables create two very unique driving experiences. Why not compare the two with our Old vs New vouchers.
You are welcome to bring spectators, who can observe, photograph and criticise your driving from the side lines. For safety reasons passengers are not allowed on the bus.
You must be 17 years old or over, hold a current UK or European driving license (must be shown on the day), be fit and able bodied. Minimum height of 1.5 metres (5'1") and a maximum of 2.0 metres (6'5"). Maximum weight of 114kg (18 stone).
