VIP Bus Driving Experience

This is a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to have an exclusive bus driving experience in a world famous, iconic Routemaster London Bus and the infamous Bendy Bus, often thought of as the nemesis of the Routemaster.

We operate this as an exclusive VIP experience with options starting from just one person up to bespoke packages for small groups. Taking place on our private circuit where you can negotiate these giant vehicles in safety around typical road junctions and scenarios. As well as driving the buses you will also undergo a Hazard Perception test, negotiate our slalom and complete a reversing challenge as performed in an actual PSV driver exam for professional drivers.

We can also tailor packages to small group requirements for a bespoke team building, celebrations and interest groups.

What Happens On The Day

Your day will consist of a meet and greet with our team and your instructor who is an experienced bus driver who will guide you through the days activities. There is a briefing and introduction to the buses and the course. First there is a Hazard Perception test, followed by a drive in our modern double deck London bus to get a feel for the bus and the course. The will be followed by a drive in our 18 meter long ex-London Bendy Bus. Finally you will get behind the wheel of our 1960's Routemaster bus. Each drive will test your driving abilities in different ways, involve some interesting challenges and most importantly be a fun experience.

You will also receive in cab videos of all of your drives. Lunch, tea and coffee is included for the driver and up to three spectators who are welcome to join you on your day. You can also add extra drivers to participate on the day. We will tailor the day and times to suit you and the size of your group.

The Routmaster is a truly fantastic vehicle to drive. Nothing was to much trouble for the Expeditional team. For all those of you who have experienced the standard corporate driving days , try something different, try reversing a ‘Bendy Bus” and see how good your really are.
A big thank you to the team for making us so welcome and giving us a truly exceptional corporate day out.

How it works

Please call us to discuss your preferred dates and group size before buying.

Where are we?

We are the only Routemaster bus driving experience in the known universe. We are based at the North Weald Airfield in Essex, just outside of London on the M11.

Difference between a Routemaster and Modern Buses

The Routemaster is the iconic London bus in service between 1958 to 2005. The Routemaster has the half cab design with the engine mounted at the front, next to the driver and the turning wheels beneath the driving position. The entrance is at the back with an open platform. In comparison modern buses have the engine mounted at the rear. The entrance is at the front of the bus with the turning wheels positioned behind the driving position. All these variables create two very unique driving experiences. Why not compare the two with our Old vs New vouchers.

Spectators

You are welcome to bring up to three spectators, who can observe, photograph and criticise your driving from the side lines. For safety reasons passengers are not allowed on the bus.

participant Requirements

Minimum age 21, hold a current driving license (must be shown on the day), be fit and able to climb into and out of the cab of the Routemaster. Minimum height of 1.5 metres (5'1") and a maximum of 2.0 metres (6'5"). Maximum weight of 114kg (18 stone).

The Routemaster was iconic, but the Bendy bus is great fun to drive
